Patriarch and pinoneer of the Melbourne dining scene, Chef Jacques Reymond, opened his first restaurant in Richmond in 1988, which obtained three hats within its first year of operation. In his 26-year career, Jacques has maintained his prestigious three hats for all but one year; a remarkable testament to his consistent excellence and dedication to the highest standards of the culinary world.
Kathy and Jacques’ four children worked in their restaurants as soon as they were old enough. Situated against the backdrop of South Yarra’s picturesque Fawkner Park, Bistro Gitan was founded in 2010 by the Reymond family. Siblings Nathalie, Edouard and Antoine have successfully maintained running the restaurant over the years, while their father remains a key mentor and inspiration for the culinary side of the business.
Bistro Gitan was the original venture that the Reymond siblings assumed together. Following its success, they took over the iconic Hotel Max in Prahan, which, after significant renovation, took on a new identity as L’Hôtel Gitan in 2014. The momentum garnered by the success of both Gitan restaurants culminated in the opening of Cremorne's Frédéric in 2019. The latest venue in the Reymond Group portfolio however is Village Wine Bar in Albert Park, which they took on in 2025.
